SOOP Live exposes several public surfaces for a creator: a profile or station, a live player when the creator is broadcasting, and a VOD area when a replay is available. They may look related in the browser, but they are not interchangeable recording sources.
This distinction matters when a recorder reports that a creator is offline or that a public source is unavailable. A valid creator profile does not prove that a live stream is running, and a visible replay does not mean the original live source is still active.
A creator ID identifies the channel, not a live session
SoopRec accepts a stable public creator identifier or an official SOOP Live share link. It first resolves that identity, then checks whether the creator currently has a playable public live. This two-step check avoids confusing similar display names and prevents an offline profile from producing an empty recording.
Use /rec CREATOR_ID for a live that is already running. Use /watch CREATOR_ID when the creator is offline and you want SoopRec to monitor for a future public broadcast.
The watchlist stores the creator identity rather than one temporary player URL. When a future live is detected, the recorder resolves a fresh source for that session. This is important because media URLs can be short-lived and should not be reused across broadcasts.
Public live stream versus SOOP replay
A public live is the media currently being published by the creator. SoopRec follows that source until SOOP Live reports that it ended, the creator stops it, or an applicable account limit is reached. The finished recording is validated before Telegram delivery.
A replay or VOD is already-hosted media exposed by SOOP Live after a broadcast. SOOP provides dedicated public VOD pages, such as its official station VOD view. A replay can remain visible after the live source is gone, but replay availability is controlled by SOOP and the creator.
SoopRec's /rec and /watch flow is designed for public live capture. It does not treat every existing VOD as an active live, and it does not bypass replay restrictions.
Why a public profile can still return “offline”
The most common explanations are straightforward:
- the creator has a valid SOOP Live profile but is not broadcasting;
- the live ended between the profile check and source resolution;
- the creator is broadcasting in a mode that does not expose a public playable source;
- a temporary SOOP response or network interruption prevented validation;
- the identifier points to a display name instead of the stable creator ID.
Retrying immediately is useful only for a temporary response. For an offline creator, adding the stable ID to the watchlist is the reliable workflow.
What SoopRec does when a live ends
The recorder closes the last media segment, verifies that the result contains playable video and prepares the finished Telegram delivery. The video or ordered parts, player cover and contact sheet arrive together so the recording is not separated from its visual summary.
The original MP4 is not stamped frame by frame. Branding is applied to the Telegram player cover and contact sheet so it remains visible without degrading or re-encoding the recorded video.
A practical decision guide
Choose the action that matches the source you actually have:
- The public live is playing now: send
/rec CREATOR_ID. - The creator is offline: send
/watch CREATOR_IDand keep the creator on your watchlist. - You only see an old VOD: use SOOP Live's own replay controls; it is not a current live source.
- The ID is uncertain: open the official profile or share link and copy the stable identifier before retrying.
